This post is more for my kids, future grandkids, great greandkids and so forth....The other day, I was over at my sisters (Nadja's) house. My parents were there, and my dad told me that if we needed any help with moving he'd come help (said he'd be our negro, only.... you know.) and Nadja and him started laughing, saying, yeah, you can ectually say that , because you actually are one.. I was completly lost, had no idea what they were talking about, so I asked. Who's black? They both looked at me "oh yeah, you were'nt here" great great grandpa Lines was half African American, half Native American. My jaw kind of dropped.. We always knew there was a huge "family secret" but only a coulpe people actually knew. Back when g-pa was alive, being half African American was pretty much an abomination, so it was kept a huge secret. Why it wasn't brought up in the last 50 years, though, I dont know..... My uncle knew, and his dad, but still a secret. So, my great aunt, and her kids went and got their genetics tested, and sure enough (among other things) African American... We always talked about how grandpa looked black, but never did we ever think that he was. We just thought he was a really dark Native American.. Anyways, Danny has had all types of fun calling me racial slurs.. It makes me laugh! He says I can say and do certain things because I'm black now, hahaha! So, now my children will know that their great, great, great, great (is that too many?) grandpa was half African American, and to their future wives and husbands. There is a small chance of having a baby that might not look white...
